Ain't that the truth!!! I also took the red bill and now there aren't more than a half-dozen (if that) that would satisfy my scale addiction. Sometime I feel like plugging back in, but I just can't...

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

Congratulations on a successful maiden of a wonderful model! (I'd give you several thumbs up emoticons but those haven't worked on RCU in over a year). Well done! :D[8D]:D

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

What I've done is to first slop on a coat of flat black. Then after it's dried, rub on graphite power (from a pencil). This creates a metal look. Then rub a bit more graphite on the edges for a...

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

Mick Reeves used a Laser 360v in his 1/3.6 scale Sopwith Strutter. It has a wingspan of 2.85m and weighs 12.6 kilos. He say it has "lots of power" for that size.

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

That's a really good trick...I'll have to keep that in mind. What sort of carbon fiber did you use? I'm really only familiar with CF in tube and rod form.

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

I forgot that you guys are using gasoline engines on these monsters. The polycrylic should be fine.

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

The Koverall looks very good. Did you use it with Stix-it? Unfortunately, Stix-it is another of those flammable model supplies that makes it extremely difficult to have shipped or bring into Japan....

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

I've got virtually endless time, but I find I can't stay focused enough for more than a couple of hours "in the shop" at a time. Often I'll do some building or detailing in the morning when I get up...

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

On the original the "spring" in this assembly would be in the wood itself, specifically the length behind the rear attachment point. Otherwise, you really would need some kind of "sprung" attachment...

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

A question: The stressed pivot point for these skids would be at the rear bracket. But it doesn't look like the bracket holds the woods firmly at this point. Later will there be some sort of pin...

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

A G64 with a reduction drive sounds like a great way to go. Swinging a scale prop would be a BIG plus!

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

If that's $60 bucks for all that stuff that's a great price! And it sure beats the Vogelsang dummy at $350 (plus shipping). Just in principle I WOULD NOT pay $350+ for a non-functioning engine. ...

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

The key to not getting burnt out on detailing is to do the detailing first! ;)
