I swing a 28 inch prop on a DA 100 and get near vertical performance. I don't understand these gear reduction drives...is it the sound or the scale size prop which is only four inches longer? Seems...

It's easy to pick up the mid wing to check balance. Make sure your balanced and incidence is correct from plans. Otherwise your good to go. Remember start off slow and don't go full throttle too fast...

Omg there is no comparison between a GTM and balsa usa kit. None what's so ever! GTM is like building a scaled down replica. Balsa usa in my opinion is like building a scaled up Guillows model.

Make sure you land it on grass. Weight and engine, size prop? Elevator is sensitive. Rudder is a delight...you can turn with rudder and feed opposite aileron to keep level its amazing. BTW if your...

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

Your video was a pleasure to watch. Just goes to show how well engineered this kit really is. Fly’s like full scale minus the rotary engine torque effects and looks great. I’ve have had many dr1...

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

Glad to here all went well. Its fun to give advice here when you have the same model. I haven't flown mine in over 6 months because I keep thinking I should upgrade to the new life a123 batteries....

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

One other thing Craig,

Before I maidened mine I spoke with vertical grimace and he adviced me to get more positive incidence on the elevator. I put a few washers on the two front elevator...

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

If your GTM dr1 flys like mine then:

Gradually add throttle with elevator in neutral position. Once tail comes up the torque will swing her slightly left. Correct with right rudder and slowly...

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

Nice detailing. Thanks for the pictures to help me finish detailing my gtm cockpit. I'm having trouble finding a 1/3 scale full body pilot to fit...have you ordered one? Also I highly recommend the...

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

Hi Craig

From reading some past threads I understand you have busa sopwith pup!

I just bought a framed up busa sopwith pup for 85 dollars[X(]. The cowl looks like a lobster pot and is...

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

There is no way your going to get this model down to the advertised weight of 30 lbs. I came in at 37 lbs dry and I fly at 6000 feet plus in colorado. I don't think a G-62 is going to do it so I...

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

Looking Good. You probably know how your going to paint on the markings but I like to tell you how I did it. First of all I used latex so maybe what I did would not help you. I cut out the crosses...

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

Craig

I'm impressed with your aileron cable design. Just make sure the tubes are de-burred so not to cut cable. I assume the top and med wing will be one piece so cable is allways tensioned. Ihave...

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

Funny Abu Ijust got that dummy engine and in the process of install. You can buy the engine in two configs. The whole engine (wt = 2.5 lbs) or just four cylinder heads. Its solid sandable plastic and...

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

The rear bracket design on the wing skid is not the problem. I clamped it the same way works fine and needs to pivot. However once you ground loop and hit the wing skid the little brass metal tab in...

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

It's the great kit. This is the only plane I built in my modeling career that I did not have to add any nose weight. Every ww1 plane I built in the past needed two to three pounds nose weight to...

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along

I'm impressed how fast your build is going. I just maidened my 1/3 gtm dr1 and I think it took 2.5 years to get to that stage. If your interested I used cables going from fuse to ailerons with out...
