Kyosho Corsair .90 new!!!
Kyosho new corsair, one word awesome! I have a new dle 20ra that needs a home and this is it! Looks good, air retracts, mains and tail, gear doors, full cockpit with pilot, oh my!!!! Maidened today, everything went fine. Tracked straight and true, dle 20ra plenty of power! Tracked straight on the runway held a little elevator, when it built up speed the plane lifted off. Added a click or two of left aileron flew great. I added no weight, batteries pushed forward with my ignition on the firewall. Retracts worked like they were supposed to, no complaints. Came in for landing with full flaps, didn't notice any ballooning, landed nice and slow. the tail bounced but I let off the elevator and she stuck to the ground. I did open up the place where the door attaches to the main gear for smoother operation, you may want to do that. There is some play on the ailerons at the clevis and control horn. It didn't affect the flight but there is some slop so I swapped them for regular nylon ones. Other than that im very satisfied!

This one is a .90 size , new for this year. Go to kyosho USA and check it out. It is defiantly a step up. The pneumatic rotating gear look like my Sierra giant, only smaller. I was impressed with how it's constructed and everything that came with it, even more with how it flies!

I didn't know about this one. It is just the right size for me. Ordered one last night. Should be here by May 21. If the kit's retracts are ok, then the price is reasonable. I'll need to see if I can use bigger wheels on our grass runway. I'm not sure what engine I'll be using. I have a spare G-38 but I think it would be too big and heavy for this plane.

Flying well has always been an aspect of every Kyosho warbird I've owned. I still fly my .50 size Corsair and Texan. I have 2 Zeros in the box and will be putting them together soon. Have a .40 size Rufe float short kit that should go well on one of them.

The ARF arrived yesterday. There was damage to the box but no damage to the plane. This seems light compared to ESMs. I'm trying to decide on the engine. DLE 20 or DLE 30. I want to use a three blade prop and not sure if the 20 will have sufficient thrust with a three blade. The 30 is only 9 ounces heavier than the 20. I think I'm talking myself into the 30. Maybe I should measure and make sure it will fit. What do you think, which should I go with for this plane?

Don't worry about three bladed props having sufficient thrust. My 60 size Corsairs all have busted 100mph (radar clocked) easily with 3 blades. Three blades have 150% more working prop area than 2 blades have. The standard advice about 3 blades is they are less efficient, not less powerful. And the piddling amount of efficiency loss is nothing compared to 150% of thrust.
The problem is finding one at all. Next problem is finding one of an appropriate diameter/pitch. Since there are only 2 mfg's and seldom more than a couple in their lines that match the diameters suitable......... See why 3 blades have a bad rep...

Look up the weight of the suggested power plant. Use one that is in the same ballpark.
With a Corsair, it's a major mistake to have extra weight up front. The gear is always too far aft for comfortable ground handling.... make that safe ground handling. There is no margin for having the CG moved forward.
Does the Kyosho gear angle forward when down? If not, it's a big mistake to have any extra weight forward. Models can't fly good if they bust themselves up on taxi out or during the attempt to take off.
An awful lot of Corsairs trip up on taxi out and take off. They really are lamed by the usual gear available nowadays.

Hey, the gear looks to be swept forward when down. Awesome.... And if you're going to have to deal with air, good it's already stuck into the plane.

Notice where the wheels are on my Corsair with it's 100 degree gear.

despite the thick stiff airlines, and wacky airline connectors, ive had no issues at all w the gear. There are multiple set screws, that I found working their way out but locktight fixed that. So far so good, if compared to the air esm gear, these are far superior!!!

sorry link does not show up but search youtube for Kyosho EP/GP Corsair with DLE 30 cc Engine and you will find it, looks like its flying great. I have the same plane but plan to put a Saito FG30B on it since I am keen on a 4 stroke engine and have heard how great Saito's are.

I have this plane with a DLE 20. That is a good match. I don't think a 30 is required at all. Total weight is 12.3 lbs. Not bad for a 71' wing span warbird. However the air retracts that came with the kit are not much good. I finally got mine working but they didn't last long. The metal is simply too soft. Replace with Robart 100 degree rotating retracts. They are also a bad deal. Poorly designed. I finally got mine working ok after doing alterations to fix the design defects. A buddy at the field got one also and couldn't get the kit retracts to work very well. He installed E-Flite retracts and they work fine. The kit is not a good deal because you pay for and then throw away the kit retracts. Mine is doing great now. Stalls are gentle and landing fairly easy for a warbird. It has the Corsair tail waggle in turbulence, but a Nitro Planes gyro solved that problem for $19.

I still have my original retracts on mine and they are working fine. The only thing I have done was changed out a split airline, then as good as new! These retracts have not failed me yet and I give them a thumbs up since I did not have to purchase them separately.
