Moving the retracts towards the fuse is just for scale affect. The nose over problem is caused by the position of the stock rails too far back, and you can't angle the gear enough to get them in...

I always use Air. Those are quite large retracts, you need the power of Air.

15" x 4 = 60" a bit short for a normal WW2 pilot. 22" x 4 = 88" That's too tall. 1/4 scale pilot would be 17-18"...
