I’d suggest not to go with 4 blades unless you drop down to 22 inches. A 22x10x4 could be close to a 23x12x3 but only testing will tell. It would be less expensive to just buy the Vario prop than experiment with several 3 or 4 blade props.
The Vario 24 inch scale 3 blade set by RPM will be very good.
The cool thing is replacement blades are cheaper than a new prop.

Thanks rowdog! You see the Saito FG 60 r3 pulling a Hangar 9 Corsair with quite some authority in this video. I am sure there is some piloting skill involved but also makes me think that the FG60 will be just as good or better on the bit lighter TF Corsair. Can anyone testify to this?
I need to have 10 posts before I can attach a URL link on the post. So Unfortunately I am having to only provide the address for the YouTube video for you to copy and paste.

i talked with a guy who was very pleased with the way his FG60 flys his TF corsair and i believe he said that the factory cowl fit the FG60. i know that the FG90 is nearly silly power on mine. Does anybody remember where to get the scale aluminum wheels for the 50cc corsair? i thought there was a set that would fit the robarts on either the H9 or the TF corsair. any help would be great.

Last week one of the wing bolts stripped as I tightened it to fly. The spar is aluminum an you are torquing the wing bolts every time you assemble the plane so eventually to wear out the aluminum.
This is a thread in style brass insert you can buy through Mc Master Carr. So I upgraded to M3. Now instead of about 1/8 inch of thread engagement in aluminum there’s about 1/2 inch.
I drilled the wood out in the wing, the counter bore, to the aluminum spar. With thin CA I wicked some into the wood just before screwing in the insert.

Robart makes the wheels too. The H9 set was painted white. You can buy the H9 wheels or go to the Robart site or the Tower Hobby site.

I still have the first set of plastic wheels and foam tires on my Corsair actually. All I had to do was replace a screw/nut that fell off once. Pretty durable and look ok. I like the aluminum wheels with the machined details but they are heavy. I have a Robart set for a P-51, looks cool.

these corsair wheels seem to be holding up ok so far but i had one fail on my TF FW190. the plastic hub shattered on a hop while landing causing it to go on its nose and broke a prop. maybe they have these corsair plastic wheels sorted out. the aluminum wheels look sweet but they are pricey. i think ESM had a set that were a little more affordable.i looked @ VQ but i dont think they stock them any more.

If you guys want a Corsair wheel that is both very scale and light then I may be able to help out. I have several customers for whom I have designed 3d printed wheel hubs, Corsair and Skyraider thus far. They are 3d printed from nylon and have proven to be very durable while in use on 35-40 pound Ziroli designs. The Corsair wheels are designed to fit the 5" diameter tires available from Robart. They are not cheap, the price is probably very similar to that of a nice set of machined aluminum wheels. However, they are more scale than anything else currently on the market and they are lighter which is a nice bonus on an airplane where the gear is retracting aft. Food for thought anyway. These would be suitable for Hellcats as well.

Just checked the Top Flite website again and it says "unavailable". Strange it says that rather than discontinued. Maybe that means it will be available again in the future. Who knows.

The Hangar 9 60cc Corsair is the replacement because of the acquisition and merger between the two companies. They must have felt the need to curb the TF model due to competition between the two products/brands. Brand loyalist’s will be pissed about this. People can argue the TF model flies better, I do, but Horizon will prefer to support their house brand every time.

I would not suggest it. The plane does fine with the 84 or 90 but the 60 is too small. It’s power is like a DLE 35 @ 4.4HP.
The 84 is more like a DLE 55 @ 5.5 HP but the extra weight makes the verticals and big loops slightly less impressive.
If you must have a radial I’d suggest the FG84 or 90 otherwise the DLE 55RA was an awesome light weight combo.
Im taking out the FG 84 and replacing it with a DLE 61 for more top end performance and a slightly lighter combination.

I am considering building this plane however I don't like the covering material and plan on changing it to glossy dark blue. The problem is I will have to paint the canopy and cowling. I know I can get matching paint by going to an automotive paint shop with a piece of film covering and they can put it in a rattle can for me. I don't have a paint gun. The question I have is will the auto paint be compatible with the plastic canopy and the cowling? Not sure what the cowling is made out of. Auto paints used to be rather harsh on plastic however modern paints may have solved this problem.

Yeah Tower shows order pending but HH shows Discontinued. The TF ARF is still available.
As for paint, TJC333, Take the new covering, dark blue, you have and have it matched at an auto paint shop. They can also give you advice on the type of paint to use and they should be able to make a rattle can for you. At the very least you can get a pint of paint to match.
The cowl should not be a problem to paint with Upol Urethane primer if you sand it down first. That will give you a good base to paint it easily with something from the paint shop. Your looking for single stage paint so it has a glossy finish when dry like the covering. On the canopy it can be tricky because its not really polycarbonate its more like PETG. The Upol primer will be ok if you apply it lightly and apply a couple coats.
I went down this road trying to use Top Flite/Monocoat products which was a huge disappointment because they don't match the paint to the flat blue covering. So I used Tamiya lacquer on my cowl and its darker blue, closer to real, but passable and I hate it. I'll be changing that for next season or so. I want to paint the plane after glassing it all.
Maybe, big maybe, you can use gloss dark blue Monocoat and Top Flite Gloss dark blue paint. I think those should be a closer match right off the Tower website rather going down this custom paint road.
