Hi,
Joe, The wings are fully sheeted, and monokoted.

Mokulele, I like your workmanship. Very neat.

L. Turner, we fly on an abandoned U.S. Base. Looks a little rough now.
If you would like to come to Bermuda, let me know.We would love to have
some jet flyers come down. Anyone that can fly jets, would be welcome
to fly the Enforcer. There are three Turbine Jet Jocks here, and between
us, about nine Jets.

Thanks, Chet.

Well, I decided an enforcer would be a good home for my RAM760 so I'll be ordering a kit fairly soon. Needed something that won't break the bank and won't have the nerves shaking quite as bad as the bandit :P

To Chet

I have an Enforcer on order and want to modify it like yours. I will be using a JDE 54 production turbine engine ( 15lbs thrust )
Could you supply more info & pix on the canard. Is it fixed or functional? Is the canard incidence 0 degrees? What mods did you do on the fuse? With the fuse and canard mods, where is the CG? I also like the top mounted speed brake, do have more info on that as well? Here in the USA we have to have functional rudders so I will have to add them. Any info you supply would be appreciated. I am playing with the idea of making a wing center section attach to the fuse and have the wings removable.

To anyone else who has a turbine enforcer, I would like to see more pixs and info on such things as: servos, retracts, wheels and brakes, structure strengthening etc. What types of control, ie elevons or separate, and how much throw and reflex needed. Any flying hints are always appreciated.

I love bashing kits like this, I haven't tried it with a turbine kit yet, but this is an awesome kit to start on.

Default RE: Turbine Enforcer

So this seemed like a good choice for my first turbine. Also I just happened to have a spare kit sitting in the basement.
GREAT choice, Joe! The kit-bashed photos of the one w/canards looks simply awesome. I'm one of the early ByroBlaster Enforcer kit-bashers, having built/flown/wore out three of 'em now. [8D] Way back when, I had the foresight to order up a bunch of the early Enforcer canopies - you know, the cool bubble-topped ones from Balsa USA - plus, I've got the original plans and parts templates, etc. from Laddie Mikulasko's 1st contruction article in RCM. One of the last things the late Ivan Munninghoff and I did together was whack out a set of foam Enforcer wing cores ... (heh, heh)

One thing you might think about in your turbine mount is to make a provision for altering the turbine centerline on the pitch axis. I suspect you'll have to dial in the thrust line so the jet is not pitch axis sensitive to different throttle settings ...

The only negative side of the RAM500 is the fuel consumption rate - it literally sucks - and the constraint is the amount of fuel you can carry. The external centerline fuel tank is a great idea - Kevin Whitlow was the first to carry a functional centerline tank (on a TGA Interceptor) if memory serves. If there is enough interest, maybe Gary Mueller could cobble up some cool Kevlar tanks?
Good luck and keep the photos coming!!

Randy if you like to see more Enforcer pictures go to the Extreme speed prop planes forum and serch for Enforcer, some of the other Enforcer flyers have posted pictures of their planes including myself.

Which club do you fly from? I'm thinking of flying my airplane at one of the Bay Area's club this weekend.

Randy,
Springair retracts, 3/8" Robart struts, Usher Enterprise brakes, Robart 2" main wheels(went through 3 sets) and 1.25" DuBro tail wheels for the nose wheels. It's been a while since Iv'e flown my Enforcer but as I remember correctly it flew with 1/4" up elevon with 7/8" up & down elevator and 5/8" aileron. Rudder was 3/4". It has 5 fuel tanks for 60 ozs with no UAT. It flew for 6 minutes with the RAM 500 with about 10 ozs remaining at shutdown. Most times I did not use full throttle for takeoff, on paved runways, and usually flew at 1/2 throttle or less. With my keeping the original vertical stab thickness I did not fly at full throttle for any length of time and used rudders only at low speeds or for takeoff and landing. The engine thrust line is parallel with the bottom of the wing. I used this setting for the 3 engines that it flew with.

Hi Mike,
You realize that you're the one that got me interested in Enforcers in the first place. You should consider resurrecting your website showing the evolution of the Enforcer from DF to turbine. Then you'll have an excuse to put those wing cores to good use.

I designed my mount for 3 deg. downthrust, which is what the plans call for with a prop engine and what I have on my DF. That seems to work well. Larry ("Mokulele") tells me he had his engine CL parallel with the wing bottom, which is about 2.5 deg. of downthrust. So I think I in the right ballpark and could change it slightly with washers if necessary. Also I'm thinking of changing what I've already made to allow the engine to sit a bit lower.

I plan on carrying 66-70 oz,. of fuel. The main tank is a 50oz. Dubro right on the CG, then a 12 or 16 oz. tank (whichever fits), plus a homemade 4 oz. UAT. Hopefully I'll be able to fly for 6-7 minutes if I'm not too heavy on the throttle. Now I need to find the time to get back to work on it.

My enforcer, bought this way, is a regular gasser BUT it has a highly modified nose with full military cockpit AND an F16 style airbrake, have a look.

To Cars II

Sorry I did not see your post until tonight, I was out of town. I fly my turbines at the EBRC field in Livermore. I usually go late Sunday afternoons when most of the other members are gone. However the weather has not been cooperating for Sundays, today was perfect and I couldn't go (figures).
Right now I am dealing with an ECU issue on my Facet and I am putting a RAM 750 on my Roo (I had a JDE54 on before and have to modify a few things before it will be ready) so I don't have anything ready to fly at the moment . If I get the ECU issue fixed then I might go next Sunday. Give me an email if you plan to come down and maybe I can meet you there. email [email protected]

Sure, blame me, Joe! I thought about cobbling up some Web-based history showing the Enforcer migration from back-ended prop to D/F, to turbine but I changed ISPs a while back and never got around to it. There sure are some fantastic Enforcer airframes out there! The only one I can blame for my foray into Enforcers is (the late) Ivan Munninghoff: Ivan made me do it after he confronted me with the 1st efforts of Dennis Strege and Ivan Schomer (sp?). It'll be ten years this Spring.

I'll never forget my first encounter with the "big boys" ... I took my 1st ByroBlaster Enforcer to AZ Jets way back when: Master Gunny (Garland) Hamilton was in attendance with others from the BVM crew and they were all flying the latest Violett d/f rockets. While the Enforcer was slower on a straight and level flight path, I could still turn *inside* the Mav. On the Friday before the event started, I think Gunny Ham' spent more time looking for the Enforcer coming up on his 'Six' than he planned (hee, hee). Sadly the jet augured on Sat. - straight in at full wick from the 3 O'clock position of an 800+ ft. loop. I *still* have a photo somewhere of the pipe looking like a stomped beer can. Fond (but sad) memories. The same OS 91VRDF - including one rebuild along the way - went on to power Enforcers 2 and 3. Maybe I'll resurrect those thoughts of a historical webpage while I'm waiting for glue, epoxy, paint, etc., to dry this winter.

Thanks for the continuing inspiration - both for myself and others.

Finally got back to the Enforcer this weekend. Here's how I did the speed brake. I needed to use two servos and place it under the fuel tank, so it wouldn't be too far forward. It's not too big (6" X 1 3/4")). It will extend about 50 degrees and should be effective.

The Enforcer is starting to take shape. I shortened the mount a little so that the engine sits a bit lower. Also found a 64 oz. juice bottle that I was able to squeeze in with a few modifications. Now that spring is here I am getting anxious to get it done and in the air. Here's a few more pictures.

Looks great joe. I like the twin wheel set up your using. What kind of brake valve are you using? I watched a video of a jet enforcer flying it was pretty cool. Were is the maiden flight going to be.

RCbart,
I have some pictures of an Enforcer somewhere and I believe it may be yours. Could you do us a favor and post some pics of yours? If it's the one I'm thinking of, it's my all time favorite Enforcer!
Nice looking Enforcers everyone!

Hi all,
here are some pictures of my Enforcer. I made a g/f fuse and modified the fin's. I was buil in 2000 and has done over 200 flights. Awsome perrformance and really good for short runways.
I would love to upload some pictures but I just can't get it to work....

Whats the specs on the enforcer , wingspan and length. May be a very easy to build replacement for the loss of the kangaroo on the market. Russ

Johan,
Looks good! Which turbine do you have on it? How much thrust? How much fuel does it carry?

JC,
The Enforcer has a 48 1/2" WS and is 54" long. I extended the nose on both mine by 6" because I think it looks better. The plane is fairly easy to build. It takes me a while though because I make a lot of mods. Since one thing leads to another you have to plan those carefully.

Here's a link to the Balsa USA website with more info on the Enforcer.

Default RE: Turbine Enforcer

Hi,
I used two 750 ml still water bottles and a 100 ml hoopertank. I had to wrap the bottles in g/f after my second flight when tank no 1 had totally collapsed ! Early mistake!
Turbine was a home built Behotec Jetstream 66 which was dialed down to 114.000 rpm approx 70N of thrust.
I could fly 10 minutes at crusing speed and 7 minutes advanced. The two rudders were mixed "both in" for air brake but actually it didn't make much difference. Best way to slow it down before landing is a steep turn in to final (turbine at idle) nose high.
I moved the original main gear forward about 25 mm to ease rotation. I aslo shortend the length of the legs about 25 mm.
The wing is 100% balsa skinned with 50g/mm2 g/f. I also added a few wing spars for fixing the turbine and fuse to the wing (se pictures). A friend of mine made a mould of the fuse in the UK. I think there are a few still flying over there. I think it was about 5,5kg dry. Anyway I remember it could do vertical acceleration after take off.
