I dont understand the price for the landing gear. By now SM/Kai should have production figured out in such a way as to offer these "optional" items for much less money across the board on all planes. Some of the parts can be replaced with injection molded plastic parts while others can be CNC machined, etc. $2600 for landing gear is more like the last quote I got for one off prototype parts for an engine I designed, that was a US company!
Ive heard the reasons before about high mold cost and low production volume but Im not buying this story any more. Ive done business in China with RC companies and this can be worked out or around.
Besides with some clever planning you can gang parts for different models in one mold and use gates to shoot parts, or not, as needed.

Im sorry but I just dont see it.

Chris,

Just to point out that this 1/5 F16 is 1/2 the price of another brand 1/5 F16. And it will be better. This is a 10 year aniversarry F16. I will bet all the knowledge gained over 10 years will go into this jet.

Complete scale main landing gear , with wheels & brakes € 2200 ,-Complete scale nose gear with oleo wheel and tyre € 1000 ,-

That is 4k USD.

This F 16 is probably not for you ... but many other will love it.

Best rgds...

Anton/ John,

As you did with the F14, please post pictures of the internal structure of the wings and tail as this will give people a lot more faith in the structure of these models and I think that is more important the larger these models become.

Thanks,

Craig.

Your right its not for me. I know what it takes to manufacture these things and I know its just ridiculous to charge so much just for the landing gear. For that price I can design and produce it myself in the US for under $3000.

Im all for high scale fidelity and detail, I love that stuff. I cant stand price gouging. Thats my point.

Awsome !!!! Will have to start counting the coppers in the porcelain pig

Cant have to much of a good thing.

Shame some people just want to turn another thread into a moan . I was always told if you have nothing good to say , dont say it .

if you knew how much r & d goes into producing a new product ( in any business ) to be made in small quantities the price can be justified . Some one wants somthing , they will buy it .

i look forward to seeing more progress on this and other new goodies in the future

With a 3k gear what could we expect to pay for the complete model? I was glad to here of the pairing with bvm and sky master but was worried prices would rise to match the name. The f-16 is my favorite jet and would like to have another one some day. Thanks for the info.

This is the stand alone price for the gear. I bet when the full kit and all prices are released they (MIGHT) be less expensive when you purchase the complete pro package.

Just like the rest of there kits. 1/6 F16 gear is 2295.00 if bought separate but 1795.00 with full pro kit package

Not saying that this will be the case with the 1/5 but this is typically what we se.

BVM has added some great upgrades to Skymaster kits over the years but I haven't seen this really change pricing.
My 2 cents

Maybe bigger and bigger jets is where the money is. I think the pool of buyers drops though. But maybe the profit margins increase. To wow the crowd how big do models need to get? Makes a 6x12 trailer seem small.

Of greater concern is the additional engineering that should go into these things that may not be happening. Landing gear has to get much more expensive to do the job for more than a few flights. Not to mention the airframes.

SM has so many models now. Too bad they don't have time to make what they have better builds for the money being charged.

Considering the cost of the landing gear and the weight of this F-16 being 456 lb., I'd say that $2,600.00, or $2,295.00 is a pretty good deal for landing gear that has to support that weight. I don't care if it's weight is 456 lb. with or without fuel.

Jeff, glad to see SM develop some bigger airframes. With their fantastic gear, this will be a winner. I can see me with one of these in Arctic Aggressor colors!!!

It's funny…I dropped "John" a note a month ago asking if it was true that SM was putting out a larger F-16…he said, "no, nothing is being developed." LOL. Glad you got the word out on this happening.
