Yea, it wasn't a certainty on the price I said but it did come from some BVM folks. With shipping and everything...

At 1/5 scale, this thing is massive...a real head-turning jet. The gear will be awesome if it's anything like the SM 1/6.

For comparison maybe look at BVM F-16 pricing? and it's 1/6.

.....or maybe buy a FEJ 1/5th for $2k less and fly it twice (if you're lucky)

And why shouldn't they be proud of themselves? They make solid airframes that actually last.....plus the customer service is top notch.

I'm certainly not cheap but 10k is out of my range for an F-16. By the time it's finished with gear etc etc it will run around 15-18k. I have a damn good job and that's just up there. How the hell do people afford jets like this? LOL.

Oh I am the first and foremost believer in "Jet money is unlimited no matter what" to the bain of my wife but even I can't justify this level of cost. I can understand it in the F14 for example because of the true complexity of the swinging wings etc etc but not on this. Someone mentioned the BVM F-16 being around the same price for a 1/6th scale but people are forgetting that it is a PNP aircraft with all servo's etc included. This jet is just in a whole different world of expense which breaks my heart a bit. Yes I'm well aware that others will be able to afford it and I applaud them. Also by NO means am I saying that the cost isn't justified...I'm just saying it sucks that I can't afford it. LOL

I sold my Skymaster 1/6 F-16 in anticipation of the 1/5. I'm hoping the price is in the $7k range without ordinance.

To much for me thats all I know, I really want another f-16 someday since they fly so nice and I love big models. Im sure plenty of people will still buy them regardless of price.

Hey Glen
I will get one and you can have a go at the sticks!
Lets see....if I charge you $100 per flight. I should recoup my investment within a year. Better than Vegas!

see you soon!

I am not bashing the price at all, just stating what I was told because I have had an interest in the airframe ever since Jeff brought out the intel. SM has always been a good and solid company, glad to see them develop some larger airframes like this one. It is certainly getting "towards" the ScaleJets F-16 kit price but I will say, there is a BIG difference and the gap widens heavily when you see the shop time investment to pull off the ScaleJets kit. Plus, frankly, not a lot of the jet guys could or would try and pull off a kit build on this bird.

SM always does a great job with their ARF's and this puts a 1/5 scale F-16 in a ARF version on the market for them. Grateful for that!

Well said Rex. The Scale Jets F-16 is a master piece, but you either need to be a master builder and finisher to do it justice or assemble a dream team.
