OK, tail has greater span, less cord (90mm at tip) but I would say elevator area is about the same, narrower cord but longer. If I get up on the office I can get my std Flash down and compare. Guess the greater span is to get the tail outside the flaps.

Get on with it - we're all waiting to have a go with it at Abingdon! Happy to lend a hand at M&R Towers next week :-)

OK, I hope to get some building time over the weekend, didn't expect the business to be so busy this last week[8D]
Tanks finished, never had a problem with the tanks in my 4+ year old model, very little air in the UAT even after a long flight...
Quality construction seen inside...
Stock C-36-2 units with Jet 1A legs and Intairco wheels (usually the stock set up uses Airtech germany legs like the Hawk), but CARF didn't have full sets for me to bring back.

Hi Dave!
Can you do me a favour and measure the length of the nose-leg? I am waiting for my UF (I guess u got mine, bummer) and trying to sort the gear out, as I am not going to use Behotec mechanics or Intairco wheels.
Damn, I can't wait until I get the kit. Should have taken the yellow one instead...

Hi Stefan!
I knew I didn't like you - now I know why just kidding
I really want to have it as quick as I can, but it ain't to bad to bring all the minor repairs and things to a quick end, before I start on the Ultra. Damn, that is one sweet looking jet and the flights were very impressive. I am going to put a G-Booster 80 in it, but might just swop it for a 130 IQ-Hammer. Any wanting a good G-80?

Will do in morning, didn't bring the leg/nose unit home tonight, as I was going to do the rudder and radio plate mounts.

It was the idea before I realised how old I am now!
Managed to coat the wood work with ZAP 40 today before leaving the office and will assemble the tanks with supplied hardware (felt clunks in both tanks) tonight.
One of the prototype models had a nose door, it made no difference, so kits come as std Flash.
More servos delivered from JR today so I can run those in ready for fitting.
The build proper needs to start tomorrow or I'm not going to do it! A week should be plenty around family and business!??

What is ZAP 40 ? You useing it for sealing wood, better than using a west epoxy resin ?
And you talk of running in your servos, so what do you do to do that, and what do you do with RXs to run in and test before putting in a new jet ???
PS... I got to wind up Frazer re your Habu...
Cheers Jeremy.

Hi Dave!
Thank you very much. That was quicker than expected. Now I can order the rest. I am really looking forward to see your UF growing.

thanks, the greater span should give it even greater presence in the air, will be nice to just change the wings for a whole new look. should be able to keep the guys at the field guessing for a while. no I just need Comp Arf to release the upgrade kit and I'm in business.

Hi Jeremy!
To answer your question: ZAP 40 is better known as "Finishing Resin". That stuff you use to glass your wood-sheeted airplanes . When was that again? In the 90s? That reminds me that I should build something from wood in the future...

Opps completely missed your question!
Yes, wing skinning epoxy, my favourite, two-three coats thinned with alcohol. I always coat the wood work as up till now my Jets last a long time...
I use a Graupner servo tester #764, it gives the motor and pot time to bed in with no load, no grabbing the arm to check torque on my new high power servos! It also puts a heat cycle through the servos. I do use the Rx I will fly with to set up the model as I build it, so subtrim and expo etc is set as I go, when the model is complete so is the radio program! This also gives the Rx switch battery system a work out before flight, the repeated switch on/off checks everything and I don't seem to have any problems with new models having gone through this process for 10 years.
Good, that one is completely dead after I flat spun it all the way to the deck!

Oh now that made me laugh... thank you, and yes i share the same thoughts, wish there was more wood build kits out there to buy and build...
Thanks for the answer, i have that in my stock...

Ok yes i follow all that, have the ZAP Finishing resin, so will try it, i also believe in sealing inside before flying, as i cant stand oil soaked wood...
Also have a Graupner servo tester, but its a old one from the early 90s, so how long do you run the servos for on your tester ???
My tester has manual mode, or a continuous end to end sweep mode, im assuming you would use the latter for a certain period of time...
The rest i also do, and i tend to give new RXs a couple hours airtime in a sport model before going into something meaningfull....
Thanks again, Regards Jeremy.

Same tester, had mine 15-20 years, run in auto mode full speed for 20 minutes, then slowest time for 3-4 sweeps looking for smoothness. The servo is normally warm after 20 minutes.
I stopped test flying new Rx's years ago when I realised I had flown a few hundred JR rx's and never had a faulty one!

Nearly a year...
Jeremy
Progress has been slow over the weekend as I had a customers CT-114 Tutor to put windows in and prepare for this coming friday and I didn't expect it to take me a whole day!
Been working on the fuselage to get the by pass and tail pipe in, forgot how much trimming there is on a Flash ducting set up. Will post pics soon.

Back on it today/tonight...slow progress at this time, but nose unit in and door hinged, working on turbine install parts, making the bye pass work neatly requires some trimming.
